Housing for all

Housing is a human right. Our statewide housing crisis is a choice, one made at the behest of corporate real estate and large private developers. Together, we will continue to fight for the rights of renters and aspiring homeowners over the profits of the real estate lobby.

The record

In our first term, we won essential protections for tenants and low-income homebuyers to keep them safe from soaring housing costs:

  • We won long-term rental assistance for low-income Oregonians.
  • We won eviction funds and protections to keep workers housed.
  • We stopped private developers from taking over affordable housing units.
  • We placed working-class homebuyers first in line to purchase single-family homes before large developers.

The plan

In our second term, we will expand on our victories for working people by reimagining housing in the State of Oregon:

  • We will pass the Renter’s Bill of Rights statewide, allowing us to finally freeze the rent at the city level.
  • We will build on the Renter’s Bill of Rights by extending collective bargaining rights to tenants.
  • We will renew investments into public housing.
  • We will fund the development of mixed-income social housing that has seen success worldwide and will keep costs low for working families.
