No War but class war
The President’s war shows us what our politicians really care about: lining the pockets of their friends in the oil industry, the energy companies, and the Israel lobby. While the administration and his party play war games against innocent people, our costs keep going up. Israel is committing a genocide and our state government should play no part in it. It is time to tax the rich and hold them accountable for hurting working people around the world.
The record
In our first term, we have taken on billionaires, multinational corporations, and the Israel lobby:
- We fought to divest from the federal tax code, which gives massive tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy.
- We banned junk fees and hidden charges.
- We protected households from winter rate utility spikes.
- We helped low-income Oregonians afford their energy and internet bills.
- I called on our federal representatives to support the Block the Bombs Act.
The plan
In our second term, we will continue to fight against special interest groups and their billionaire backers:
- We will fight for public ownership of utility companies to keep costs low.
- We will raise taxes on corporations like Amazon, Nike, and Intel and end their tax breaks.
- We will raise taxes and end loopholes for the wealthiest Oregonians, like Phil Knight.
- We will divest the Oregon Treasury and Oregon Investment Council (OIC) from Israel Bonds.
- We will divest the Oregon Treasurer and OIC from Raytheon, Palantir, and other corporations invested in the war machine.
