Abolish ICE
In this state, we stand with immigrants. The majority of our district is older than ICE. An agency which kidnaps residents, murders citizens, and teargasses families exercising their free speech rights has no place in this country. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, I know the fear of ICE violence firsthand. The time has come for us to Abolish ICE. Together, we will create a mass working-class movement that kicks ICE out of Oregon.
The record
In our first term, we won major protections for working people’s civil rights and liberties against the federal government’s authoritarianism:
- We passed the Protect Your Door Act, which allows Oregonians to sue federal agents for illegal raids and detentions.
- We passed the Healthcare Without Fear Act, restricting access to hospitals by federal agents.
- We banned masks for all law enforcement and required them to identify themselves.
- We required schools to adopt safety plans for federal immigration agents.
- We banned the use of immigration status as evidence in civil court cases.
- We banned public data sharing that could be weaponized against residents.
- We restricted the presence of federal agents at public facilities.
The plan
In our second term, we will continue to fight against special interest groups and their billionaire backers:
- We will reiterate the call to Abolish ICE.
- We will prosecute federal agents who have committed illegal acts to the full extent of the law.
- We will establish legal funds to support families impacted by ICE violence.
- We will deny state facilities to federal agents engaged in illegal kidnappings.
- We will require explicit sanctuary campus policies from all schools in Oregon.
